How to recognize a seagull gull?

Indices: size, colors and songs

First criterion, size: gulls are larger than gulls. "The gull is an average meter wingspan, explains Frédéric Jiguet, ornithologist at the National Museum of Natural History. The Herring Gull is 1m40 to 1m50 and 1m50 yellow-legged gull measure up to scale. "

If you have a compass in the eye, you already know what you're dealing with bird. If you still doubt the color of the plumage should help. "The Seagull, when the door was in breeding plumage is white with a black cap on his head, says Frédéric Jiguet. Its beak and legs are dark red. "The gull, he is still gray with a yellow beak decorated. "Its feathers are light gray to dark gray and legs can be pink or yellow depending on the species, but never red such as gulls," explains ornithologist.

Last index if you still hesitate: listen carefully and distinguish the characteristic sneer of the seagull's cry more classic gull.

Salut Nicole, une note tres interessante et aussi une tres jolie image, details et exposition vraiment au top, seulement les couleurs semblent un peu froides.Mes compliments et belle soiree',Luciano

Nicole great sharpness of the seagull, the background blending with seagull colour making the photograph stand out.

Hello Nicole
Lovely image of this sea gull, but honestly in my opinion I see lots of room for improvement. The first point seems to be the use of f/22 and 1/60s. For a medium focal length at 200mm this shutter speed seems dangerously low and some traces of minor camera shake maybe visible already. The depth of field which the aperture creates is to wide and this brings the background quite close to the subject. This is making the image one dimensional ...flat in other words. Please try wider apertures, like f/5.6 ..f/8 etc.etc.
Please, check carefully the white balance settings as well. The bluish cast in the photograph suggest incorrect WB settings. In the workshop I have tried to address this issue by adding yellow, red and magenta.
Good luck next time Nicole, please keep trying !
Regards,
George Veltchev
