THE HUMBOLDT PINGUIN:
The Humboldt Penguin is a South American penguin, which breeds in coastal Peru and Chile. The penguin is named after the cold water current it swims in, which itself is named after Alexander von Humboldt, an explorer. Due to a declining population caused by over-fishing, climate change, habitat destruction, and ocean acidification, the current status of the Humboldt penguin is threatened. The current population is estimated at between 3,300 and 12,000. Shot at Vogelpark Avifauna.
