[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I'm back from my holiday from the Canaries, Spain, where I've spent an unforgettable week, learnt and experienced many new things. One of these new adventures was a meeting with Canary Speckled Wood (Pararge xiphioides Staudinger, 1871), the "local version" of our well-known Speckled wood (P. aegeria). This species is endemic on the central and western Canary Islands (Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Gomera, El Hierro and La Palma). There's another species of the genus in Europe, Pararge xiphia, endemic on the island of Madeira.

Photo: shot in manual exposure mode, with ISO 80, f/8 and 1/50 sec. Location: Jardin Botanico Vieira y Clavijo.

At the same time, I dedicate this post to the loving memory of Prof. Dr. Bayram Göcmen (boreocypriensis), a true friend, nature lover and in the golden age of TrekNature, a serious contributor of the site, who passed away a few days ago. Rest In Peace my friend!

Hi Laszlo,

The vegetation is framing well the insect. The point of view is showing the details of the Canary Speckel Wood butterfly. The light is bringing out the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.
