Hi Trekkers,
My last post was inspired by the wildfire which destroyed the most beautiful forests of Gran Canaria, an island I had the luck to visit to, in March this year. Although right now it seems the whole world is in flames, much larger areas than a Canary island - but at least this fire is slowly becoming under control.
Today I checked all images from the Canary archipelago ever posted on TrekNature, since the beginning (2003), as I wished to upload a species, which is native exclusively in Gran Canaria, and was never before shared here. So, here it is: Flor de Mayo (Pericallis webbii (Sch.Bip.) Bolle), a Gran Canarian endemism, the first time on TrekNature, to greet the extinguishment of the devastating wildfire.
Photo was made in the botanic garden, where I found many endemic species in bloom - some of them are native on other Canary islands, too, while others on one specific island only. A few of them may pop up in my gallery later. ISO 80, f/8, 1/500 sec. in manual exposure mode. PP: moderate cropping, slight level adjustment.
Thanks for looking and reading, protect the environment, please. |

Hi Laszlo,a first time is always a great satisfaction but i don't like when that comes from easy botanical gardens. But no problems, the species is very interesting and taken in an excellent way, just a bit oversaturated but very bright. Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano
