Caiman crocodilus

A relatively small to medium sized crocodilian (males generally reach 2.0 m to 2.5 m. Females are smaller.
Total number of teeth = 72-78
Diet: Juveniles take a variety of aquatic invertebrates (insects, crustaceans, molluscs). As they grow, various vertebrates take up a greater percentage of the diet. C. crocodilus is very much a generalist and adaptive predator. Not dangerous to human.

Not typical pic of a caiman, as they are usually masters of camouflage (all my other pics were nose and eyes between floating plants). Lucky that that one was so well exposed. The water is clear and run fast, as there are the Iguazu falls (ones of the biggest on earth)100 m downstream. On that rock only, water is quiet.

Thanks for looking.

Hi JeanMarie

Excallent shot expecially by the fact that it's taken in the wild! The camouflage is really impecably shown here.
Very nice details and very nice colors and also good manage of the light that could have caused a bit of a problem reflecting from the water.
Bravo and TFS

hi J.M
tres jolie photo assez surprenante, bon BG, bonnes couleurs
bravo et merci departager

Nice capture JM.
Looks like he is sunning himself but at the same time keeping cool and moist. Were you on a ledge over looking him? Good POV.

Cheers :)
