Turquoise emperor - Doxocopa Laurentia

TURQUOISE EMPERORS:

Very few web information on that specy. Here is the few I can tell:
Sexual dimorphism:
Male:
length of forewing between 31 and 33 mm.
An iridescent turquoise strip in the sub medial area of the dorsal surface of all wings. This strip does not penetrate the discal cell of the forewing.
Female:
length of forewing between 34 and 37 mm.
The dorsal surface has a dark coffee color, with a strip of white in the middle area that begins underneath the discal cell of the forewing and finishes in acute form in the back wing. This strip has an iridescent celestial color.
Habitat: edges of forests and mountains.

PIC:

Not much to say for that one. I used the super macro mode. I walked slowly and shoot from about 12 cm. No PP work.

What a superb capture!
The pOV is really great here allowing you to catch all the beautiful of this butterfly's wings.
The colors are lovely and the light very well managed. Also the details are excellent and the composition very nice.

both, the butterfly and the picture are beautiful. Great sharpness and nice presentation of colours and wing colour patterns. Structrural details can be seen in the light blue as well as in the dark areas proving excellent light management.

beautiful species, beautiful shot, very clear and sharp, and showing the brilliant iridescence in a perfect way. Perfectly naturalistic colours. Very well approached, perfect point of view.

Well explaining notes, too. Dimension "diameter" obviously means "length of forewing", I suppose.

This picture makes me curious about the environment the shot was taken. Was it in town, on the surface of a sidewalk, on a wall, near the forest on a rock?
