Nice capture of this beautiful and striking Callicore.
On the whole this is a fine shot and well-composed, but it is a pity that you didn't focus on the nearest antenna. Then you would have had the eye and nearest legs in focus, but this is often difficult to know until afterwards.

Hola JeanMarie,
a beautiful butterfly. Colours and point of view are superb. Focus and sharpness could be better. I tried a workshop (I see that 'horia' did one in parallel) to compensate this and also the slight overexposures and concomitant underexposures on the wing surfaces.

Beautiful specimen JeanMarie that captured here, very well depicted.

I like it a lot: composition, POV, DOF, focus, sharpness, color, lighting, background, framing.

I like it: sharpness (attention to Workshop of Horia), notes.

I don't like it: the lack of the values of the image and notes (if you need to know as obtaining them, only inform me for mail).

Such a beautiful butterfly, Jean Marie. : )
The focus and exposure are excellent toward the top of the butterfly.
The details at the bottom are a bit soft and overexposed.
But the POV is fantastic, and the colors are well saturated.
Gorgeous design on the wings.

Another great macro work from you!
The colors of this little butterfly are lovely and well saturated and the details are nice.
Also the POV is excellent and the shallow DOF does well to isolate your subject from the geat blurred BG.
Nice composition as well.
Hope you don't mind me adding a WS...i made a few modifications (very little) and i'll explain them there :)

What a lovely species, I find this butterflies impressing, how lucky to be able to capture it in their natural enviroment. It is a nice photo.
Yo made a good work with light considering the difficult surface it is resting on. although Horia has made a similar WS, I wnated to give my approach also to this beautiful butterfly, so I did some postprocessing, hope you dont mind.

Hello JeanMarie,

This is a nice capture of a very beautiful butterfly. I especially like the colorful design of the wings! Regarding the composition, I appreciate whe way you used few elements to create this image. Your POV is great and positioning the camera near the eye level of the butterfly was an excellent ideea. However, I would have cropped a bit from the left edge just to give the butterfly more space in its front comparing to the back. The nice, OOF background is ideal for the subject to stand out.
The colors are bright and make a great contrast. Focus is OK but some areas are a bit OOF. I know how difficult it is to get a propper DOF with very short focal lengths so this doesn't bother me. Exposure is achieved very well in the upper half of the picture. There are however overexposed areas in the lower part, especially in the supporting surface. I found Felipe's (extramundi) workshop very useful since it deals with both composition and exposure. Overall it is a very good capture with brief notes about this species and about the picture. Congratulations and TFS!
