Melasoma vigintipunctata (16)
|I discovered this small beetle also on my daily inspected Salix caprea bush. The picture posted yesterday and many others such "Break Dance", Right Direction!", "Wrong DIrection?" and "Micro-Insects" originate from the same bush. |
- Melasoma vigintipunctata
- family: Chrysomelidae
The colour pattern and its size may misguide you to put into the family Coccinellidae.
According to the literature, the species is found occasionally from April to August preferentially on Salix.
Body length: about 7 mm.
On the young and fresh plant the signs of feeding by the beetle can be detected: the leaf basis below the beetle.
