Common name Eastern Orange Tip
Forewing lenght. 19.0-21.0 mm.
Diagnostic features. Female has upperside white (see WORKSHOP ).
The underside hindwing is yellow, markings as in male. (see here a my short video).
Male like the Anthocaris cardamines but upperside yellow (see here).
The underside (see here) hindwing is yellow with mottled green markings.
Distribution. Local in Sicily (Mt Etna) and in Sud Italy (Calabria), Macedonia, Greece (Mt Parnassus). Range extends to Syria, Lebanon, Trans-Caucasus and Iraq, always very local.
Biology. Flies April-May at 600-1200m in a single brood. Larval food plant Isatis tinctoria.
