The Green Whip Snake or Western Whip Snake (Hierophis viridiflavus) is a species of snake in the Colubridae family. It is found in Andorra, Croatia, France, Greece, Italy, Malta, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, and possibly Luxembourg. Its natural habitats are temperate forests, temperate shrubland, Mediterranean-type shrubby vegetation, arable land, pastureland, plantations , rural gardens, and urban areas.

THE ONE I FOUND:

Found under a big stone, then moved a little further for shooting pics.
Moving him is easy. Just pull your fingers under and pull up. He will start to go down but will quickly hold still with his tail as he don't want to fall/jump to the ground.
No aggressivity at all: no byting, no facing, no attempt to impress. Only trying to sneak away or hyde.

this one was hatched not so long ago. See workshop for size.

I went to the ground to make horizontal shots and give some perspective. I shot from a 90 degre angle to get all the head in the same focus plane. Camera hold agains the ground.
Only PP work: cropping out irrevelant area below and resized for TN.

Special thanks to Ilias Strachinis who pointed out my mistake about the ID. [ID now amended to the proper one: Hierophis viridiflavus ]

Thanks for looking

Jean-Marie
