Calidris alpina (TUR: Karakarınlı Kumkuşu, ENG: Dunlin):

Dear my friends, I uploaded four different Calidris species in the last four days. This is the last and 5th species of the same genus. As I mentioned yesterday, 7 Calirdis species recorded from Turkey, however other two species could not be photogphed up to know from Turkey. Here you can find 5 Calirdis species together in my gallery.

Calidris alpina has a black abdomen region in breeding season. İndividual in photo were taken in January that is why its abdomen is white. You can find with a black colored abdomen bird as ws.

This individual in breeding plumage was taken 04.09.2008 (two days ago). The quality of this frame not so good. So I want to upload this one as ws to show you breeding plumage and black abdomen color.
