Bleeding Heart (16)
|Crimson-breasted Flowerpecker (Prionochilus percussus)|
I have not update in TrekNature account for quite some time.
This small beautiful flowerpecker was photographed while birding for one hour on Sunday, at "TopRank" Camp site about 10km from Raub Town in Pahang, Malaysia.
The Crimson-breasted Flowerpecker has an overall length of about 10 centimetres only. This tiny little bright-coloured bird has a short beak and tail. The male bird has a sharper appearance than the female bird. Its underparts is bright yellow with a distinctive red patch in the centre of the breast, and another on the crown of the head. Its upper plumage is blue in colour. It also sports a white moustache streak. Whereas its head and beak are black. In contrast, the colour of the female is dull olive green, with an orange crown patch, and a yellowish white patch on the breast.
