Brownstriped Litter Fly (Sapromyza neozelandica)

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Arthropoda
Class: Hexapoda
Order: Diptera
Family: Lauxaniidae
Scientific name: Sapromyza neozelandica
Common name: Brownstriped litter fly

There are thought to be around 15 species of these tiny native flies in New Zealand. Their maggots live in leaf litter & feed on molds and fungi.

I took this on my Lumix FZ100 with a Raynox DCR 150 macro teleconverter. The grass was swaying in the wind, so I used my cable shutter release to trigger the shot at the second it stopped.

Hope you like it.
