If you are going to Uganda you have to visit the Mountain Gorillas. I will post more pictures and with each picture talking about a different topic. Today I would like to start with the question we all asked ourselves before starting the trek: how close can we get to these animals. Before leaving in the morning for Gorilla trekking the guide is briefing the group telling us that it will not be allowed to come closer than 7 meters to the Gorillas. This is most important to avoid any infection from humans to Gorillas, only one exception, when the Gorillas are approaching the tourists you may come closer than the 7 meter rule.
When we approached the Gorillas the group just had left the National park and was sitting a few hundred meters outside the NP borders in a Coffee plantation, quite exceptional by the fact that there was plenty of light (we had sunshine, only later heavy rain). Several of these magnificent apes climbed some trees whereas others were already hundred meters further down the hill. So we spend the first minutes with the Gorillas in the trees and went then down to find the Silverback.
At that moment the group left the trees and reunited with the rest and at that very moment we were between the 2 groups and the magic happened, please have a look at the ws pic.
