This specimen was shown to me by Helmut Presser who lives in the area, and has shown me some of the orchids of Bavaria. This is a unique isolated population, quite far from the typical habitat in the Alps. The caterpillars eat the Sedum I posted a few days ago. Due to overcollection and loss of habitat this species is considered "vulnerable".

The plant is Dactylorhyza fuchsii.

The WS shows the same with open wings.
