This was taken in Joshua Tree Nat'l Park at a place known as "Barker Dam". This dam and resulting small lake was created by early cattlemen in the turn of the century, in order to provide water for their cattle.
It was late afternoon here, and the clouds and sky were becoming quite surreal, which made for great photography.
A bit of red and blue was added, as well as more contrast.

Crop, contrast

You have an amazing shot here, probably better than anything I have taken. So you have to give me at least gall points for attempting to improve your image. But I wasn't happy with the rocks on the bottom, so I cropped them out; then, to balance the picture I decided that after trimming the bottom, a horizontal (landscape) layout was what was best for what was remaining. Since I eliminated some of the darkest and lightest spots, I bumped the contrast a bit.
Best,
Mike
