For James Bond fans (26) sandpiper2
(16757) | Whilst staying on Phuket Island we did several day trips to the surrounding area. On this day we went exploring through Ao Phang Nga National Park, which fundamentally covers much of Phang Nga Bay on the eastern side of Phuket. It’s a shallow sea crowded with hundreds of limestone islands and turquoise water packed with a kaleidoscope of colourful fish. Snorkelling and diving here is almost as good as on the Australian Great Barrier Reef.
This is perhaps the most famous of the islands, Kao Ta Po as see from Khao Phing Khan. This limestone stack is perhaps 200m high and is colloquially known as James Bond Island. The 1974 film “The Man with the Golden Gun” was filmed in this area.
Its beauty is difficult to capture in the mid day sun, but the whole area is just breathtakingly stunning. If you get the chance, go there you won’t regret it. |
